Still Life with Camera

Friday was move in day for Charlie. We left the house at 6:00 am since the dorm he's in is a highrise in downtown Chicago. Neither one of us wanted to worry about where to park, etc. We arrived by about 7:15 and parked in the lot right next door to The Buckingham, as the dorm is called. It's a building shared by 2 or 3 downtown colleges: Columbia College (where Charlie is going), Roosevelt, and De Paul, I think. Charlie's moving on Columbia had things pretty well organized. They had "speed packs" available for us, which made it really easy to move a lot in one load. Those of us who were early had to wait a bit until the RAs got things organized inside. Why is everyone smilling except Charlie? We were really worried about our 14-year-old silver tabby relative to the move. The last time we moved, she hid from us for an entire week; didn't eat, didn't drink, didn't pee or poop. And once she came out, she became a recluse. She spent 90% of her time either in her chair in the Master Bedroom or snuggling with Robert in his home office. Oh yes, and the rest hiding from or hissing at "the interloper." We wanted to make this move as painless as possible for her. But, of course, the best laid plans.....Our movers, instead of finishing loading from the old house and unloading into the new house in one day, barely finished loading on Day 1. There we were without a toothbrush or clean underwear to our name, on our way to a hotel and with no plan for Scout, who was sort of patiently(or maybe plaintively) waiting in her cat carrier, where she'd spent most of the day hiding from the movers.
